HOLY KAABAH, THE MUSLIM’S QIBLA

There is a huge population of Muslims in the world, and every time when they pray, they turn their faces towards the one direction, that is Holy Kaabah, Saudi Arabia. The term is Islam for the direction is Qibla. When a Muslim ready to pray, no matter where that person is, he turns towards the direction or Qibla, towards the Holy Kaabah.  The Holy Kaabah is sacred for all Muslims and it is the House of ALLAH Almighty.

Holy Kaabah is a small building in a cube shaped in the courtyard of the majid that is known as Masjid Al Haram, in the Holy Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Qibla or direction was not initially oriented towards Holy Kaabah. In the start Muslims prayed towards the direction of Masjid al Aqsa, located in Jerusalem. According to companions of Prophet (PBUH), the change of Qibla or direction was happened very suddenly. During the noon prayer, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received a revelation from ALLAH Almighty instructing Him to, “Turn your face towards the Masjid al Haram, Makkah”.

Muslims while their pilgrimage does not worship the Holy Kaabah, or its contents, Holy Kaabah is simply a focal point for all Muslim. Muslims worship only One God, ALLAH Almighty the Most Merciful, and the Most Wise.  When Muslims turn their faces pray in one Qibla or direction, it shows a sign of unity, the unity embedded in the religion Islam. The Arabic term for prayer is Namaz and it shows a strong connection between the Muslim and ALLAH Almighty; when all Muslim from many different corners of the world faces the same direction towards the Holy Kaabah it adds an extra dimension to the strong connection.

Namaz connects the Muslims to ALLAH Almighty and the Qibla gives the Muslims a correct direction for performing Namaz. It is very important the Muslims should make every possible effort to face towards the right direction or Qibla when praying. In the present era it is easy to find out the correct Qibla through different mobile apps. Religion Islam is a religion of peace and unity. All Muslims from different nations, different casts, and colours are strongly united by their belief in One True God, ALLAH Almighty.

They are united in the ritual of prayer, acts of worshipping ALLAH Almighty and united by the direction of worship. The Qibla is not only about degrees of longitude and latitude it is actually about the unity among all Muslims. It is about all humanity that is strongly united in the worship of the One True God, Creator of the whole universe that is ALLAH Almighty. There are also two moments comes every year when the sun is directly over the opposite position of the Holy Kaabah, thus pointing towards the direction or Qibla.
